Hi Friends,
I hope this post finds you well...Blessed with a good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, and poured into your lap.
I have been given the beautiful privilege of "guest blogging" for Karen while she is glorifying our Lord with the Summit Team in Uganda. Please allow me to introduce myself...my name is Teresa Hemmer and I am blessed to attend Summit Church Naples with Karen and probably a lot of her readers. This past few months I have also had the privilege of co-leading a table of wonderful women at Bible Study along with a dear friend and it has been a true honor. So with that being said...how do you do?
Ahem...
We have reached our halfway mark with Scripture Memory...I hope you are finding that hiding His Word in your heart refreshes you and know that His Words are active and alive, a double edged sword used to refine, reproof, correct and train us up in righteousness.
This time I pulled my verse from Galatians as the Lord has placed adoption heavy on my heart.
But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. Galatians 4:4-6 NASB
In reading these verses I couldn't help but recall that in the Jewish culture long ago a child born into a family could be disinherited, but that could never happen with an adopted child. Once a family had adopted a child, that bond was law and could not be broken. Isn't that just like our Heavenly Father? When we surrender to Him and allow Him to be Lord over us we are called His children...adopted children...never to be disinherited. What a beautiful picture of Yahweh's most gracious love. He does all the work of loving us and we can't do anything to earn it.
I don't know about you but I sometimes just cannot get a grasp on Him. I find myself just hanging on to the hem of His tunic, dragging in the dirt when in reality He is actually carrying me all the while I am punishing and beating myself up for my transgressions against His Spirit. Truly His lap is where I should be spending most of my time. My friends, if you haven't already, please learn this lesson early...walk humbly with your God with a broken and contrite spirit...come to Him in brokenness and He will restore you...When looking at Psalm 51 (which our pastor preached on this past Sunday) I see that I need to confess in brokenness with godly sorrow, He does the rest. He purifies, He washes, He cleanses, He blots out, He sustains, He delivers! We cannot do it and He knows it so He does it for us...Praise be to our Great Deliverer, Jesus Christ!
Let us continue to worship El Elyon (The Most High God) in spirit and truth:
Love God, your God, with your whole heart: love him with all that's in you, love him with all you've got! Deuteronomy 6:5 The Message
May I ask you to please continue praying for Karen and our Summit Team in Uganda. They will be blessing the children and staff at the Home of Champions beyond measure, but if I know our Lord He will make sure the ones with changed, broken and blessed hearts will be our team...doesn't He just rock your socks off??!!
Thank you for allowing me to talk and share a bit. Til we meet again...continued blessings to you, my new friends! To God be the Glory!
Teresa Hemmer

Teresa,
Thank you, my friend, you are a wonderful gift. I'm just now getting a chance to sit down and read your post and it has ministered greatly to me.
It is my great joy to worship El Elyon, the Most High God alongside you. He is our everything, isn't He, my sweet friend?
I love you.
Karen
