Scripture #3!

I hope you are having an amazing time with the Lord as you memorize His Word!

I have been thrilled to sit at His feet, ask Him what verses he has for me, then listen...

just listen...

and hear God speak.

My prayer is we do not hurry through this year of memorizing Scripture. Let's take the time to slow down, block out the world, sit at the feet of Jesuslisten and have our lives changed!

Several people are memorizing Scripture along with us but haven't posted on the blog yet.  If that's you, feel free to join us, it's not too late!  Also, a couple of men have asked if the Scripture Memorization on this blog is only for women.  And, the answer is we would love to have our brothers in Christ join us!  While I will reference women's Bible study a lot, everyone is invited to join us!  Chris Gray and his wife Ana are memorizing Scripture and posting with us.  My husband, Phillip, is memorizing along with us but hasn't started posting....yet :-)

Last Thursday several women stood up and shared their verses in Bible study.  It was a wonderful blessing to hear God's Word fall from their lips.  I love how God will speak to us and press certain verses on our hearts and then what does he do?  He takes that very same Word and uses it to minister and comfort others.  As I type this post I am reminded of 2 Corinthians 1:3-4,

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort.  He comforts us in all our afflictions, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any kind of affliction, through the comfort we ourselves receive from God."
The verses you are sharing on this blog, that are so personal to you, God will use to also comfort others.

Where does the Lord have you today?  What verse has He placed on your heart?

I am praying for you and I am excited to have this time of memorizing God's Word alongside you.  Here we go, time for Scripture Memory #3!

The Lord has given me...
"6For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands, 7for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control."
 2 Timothy 1:6-7
ESV

Many Blessings!

Your sister in Christ,
Karen

The Sovereign Lord has spoken to me, and I have listened. I do not rebel or turn away…Therefore I have set my face like a stone, determined to do His will. And I KNOW that I will triumph. Isaiah 50:5,7 NLT (emphasis mine :))

I, for one, would be greatly encouraged to know that godly men are out there memorizing the Word along with us. This is not just a spiritual discipline for women.

Here is my GRACE scripture:

John 1:17 (NIV)
For the law was given through Moses; GRACE and truth came through Jesus Christ.

PS. I am hosting a Valentine's giveaway over at my blog. It is open to girls and GUYS!!

Mark 11:22 "Have faith in God," Jesus answered.(NIV)

Story: This past fall our friends, the Wilsons, tragically lost their 15 year old daughter McKenzie. McKenzie and and our daughter Emily were little stud softball teamates as munchkins for a few years (including a State Championship where the journey had families travelling together and doing life-awesome times!).

McKenzie was outspoken on her faith, was a bundle of energy and just made you smile.

McKenzie died at 11:22 am August 17, 2010. Her funeral was held at 11:22am. Emily wears a wristband that says Mark 11:22-McKenzie.

Her parents started a foundation with the following mission:

The Foundation supports a variety of efforts to help young people identify and develop their talents, their character and their faith in order to become productive and fulfilled adults.

On November 20, 2010 Blake and Stephanie Wilson held the "McKenzie Noelle Wilson Run" in downtown Jacksonville. Their strength was amazing. They celebrate with a few thousand people the fact that McKenzie was "fearfully and wonderfully made".

The Lord replied, "My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest."

This is one of my comfort verses when I am feeling overwhelmed and tired. I love God's promises to us.

My scripture spoke to me when I read it in Proverbs31. We all go through different seasons in our lives and this scripture speaks to me in the season in which I am in. Reminding me that the Lord has a plan for me, a better plan, a better future and hope! Praise God.

Jeremiah 29:11:
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Friends,

Thank you for being who you are and sharing God's Word on this blog!

As I read your verses out loud this morning I felt the favor of the Lord and God's presence wash over me. May the power of His Word and who He is continue to change us.

Have a great day. I'm asking the Lord to overwhelm us with his love and send us out with a passion for Him! May this world see Christ in us.

Your sister in Christ,
Karen

Forgot to post my first verse for February, but God knew and had Karen ask us to all stand and recite - ready in season and out! I was SO encouraged by hearing the women speak forth the Word aloud - it is good for our hearing and affects us differently than just seeing. "'For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,' says the Lord.'For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts above your thoughts." (Is. 55:7-8 NKJV) Hallelujah!

Ok ladies, I have been watching and listening to you all memorize scripture. I am in awe because I just don't know about commmitting to do this. I have never blogged. The whole concept is overwhelming, but frankly, my life theme at the moment is all about "stepping in" and trusting Him. Somedays I succeed more than others.
Here it goes:
My scripture is Jeremiah 29:11
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord "plans to prosper you, plans to give you hope and a future.
I loved this verse so much, I made it our home phone number: 594-2911...
Wish me luck on this scripture memorization journey!
