The Power of His Word.

Scripture Memory #2!

This week someone asked me why we memorize Scripture and why this was so important to us.  I loved the questions.  It gave me an opportunity to share...

We memorize Scripture because we love the Lord.

We memorize Scripture to draw closer to God.

We memorize Scripture because His Word is powerful.

We memorize Scripture so that our lives are changed!

It is time for Scripture Memory #2!  If you are just joining us, don't worry, it's okay...you're not too late and you are so welcome here!  Isn't it wonderful how God brought Mary from Alabama and Leah and Cindy from North Carolina to join us here?  It is a sweet blessing for us to memorize His Word alongside each other.

In Priscilla Shirer's study, Discerning The Voice of God, Priscilla says, "The more Scripture you have hidden in your heart, the more opportunity He will have to bring it to your mind and direct  you.  Our goal should be to saturate ourselves in His Word."

Friends, let us saturate ourselves in His Word!

I can't wait to see the Scriptures the Lord is pressing on your hearts for Scripture Memory #2.  It is exciting to be on this journey with you and I look forward to January 2012 when we will have memorized 24 Scriptures.  Just think, we will be able to look back and see how the Lord has moved in our lives and how we have been changed by the power of His Word.  Praise God.

Love you all so much!  Don't forget to leave your comment with your Scripture and the Bible translation you are using.  If you have questions or need help putting up your Scripture please email me at karen@summitlife.com.   I would love to help you memorize His Word.  For His honor and His glory.

The Lord is keeping me in Habakkuk for my second Scripture.

    18  yet I will triumph in the LORD;
I will rejoice in the God of my salvation!

    19 Yahweh my Lord is my strength;
He makes my feet like those of a deer
and enables me to walk on mountain heights!

Habakkuk 3:18-19

Many Blessings!

This is exciting!!!

As you can see the Lord is really working on my strongholds...fear, shame, disgrace, humilation, etc...gonna keep reciting it until I believe it :)

Love, Teresa

Isaiah 54:4 NASB

Fear not, for you will not be put to shame;
And do not feel humiliated, for you will not be disgraced;
But you will forget the shame of your youth,
And the reproach of your widowhood you will remember no more.

I have been counting the hours until I posted this weeks memory verse. I can't wait to see how God uses it for me, but also for those that He sends to me to encourage them that His love letter is for them too!!

My verse this week is Luke 1:45 NIV, which tells me:

"Blessed is she who believes that what the Lord has said to her will be accomplished."

I am praying for all of you as God speaks to your hearts about the scripture He has placed on your heart.

Love to my sisters!

Okay, I confess, I have been given two to memorize...started not to post it because I got butterflies as I realized I would have to recite it at bible study...and then God said..."what was your first verse young lady?"...He knows my prayers...and He just answered one..."blessed is she who believed that what the Lord has said to her will be accomplished." Oh how I love Him...He cracks me up sometimes. I love dancing with Him. I will remember...and if I don't. That's okay...it's etched on my heart.

my second verse is:

"You have shown me the path of life, in your presence is fullness of joy, at your right hand are pleasures forever more." NKJV Psalm 16:11

God keeps bringing it deeper in me that His Word to me is all the proof I need that His promises always come true. Thank you, Jesus!!

I am still confident of this; I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.

Psalm 27:13-14 NIV

Heavenly Father - I WILL wait, please strengthen me when I become impatient. Amen

Love to all!

Hebrews 11:6 NKJV

But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Hi Friends,

Thank you for sharing your Scriptures and how God is moving in your life. I love how we memorize Scriptures because we love the Lord and his word is a delight to us. Then, how the power of His Word, and who He is, changes us!

Leah and Cindy, it is awesome that you are doing this with us Florida girls. You are wonderful and I'm glad the Naples ladies get a chance to know you. Next year, when it's time for our celebration, we'll just have to bring you down to Naples to celebrate with us! And, please forgive me, in the post I said you were from NC. What was I thinking? I know y'all are from Blairsville, GA!

Let's keep memorizing and sharing His love!

Love you sisters!

I am so excited to be doing this with all of you. The Lord has been doing a lot of work on me lately and although some of it has been painful, it has been so necessary. He is so faithful!

Hebrews 4:16 (NIV)
Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence,so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

I've been in the midst of a big move this past week. Ashamed to say I didn't pick up my Bible the whole time. When I finally did get back in the Word Thursday morning, I didn't have my reading plan. I asked the Lord to lead me to a Word just for me, then opened my Bible to a random page. This is the scripture that leaped out at me:

“Watch out that you do not lose what you have worked for, but that you may be rewarded fully.” ~ 2 John 1:8 (NIV)

I have worked for A LOT! The Lord has given me MUCH, and there is MUCH yet to be done! I will WATCH OUT and not let Satan use distractions to separate me from the Lord.

It's so funny the way god works and I had a great scripture to post but just moments ago God said NO you need this one:

1 Cor 13:4-6 ESV

Love is patient and kind: love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. it does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with truth.

I am so thankful that the Lord always gives this love to us! Amen!

Just got my next verse and it brought me to tears, another one suggested in Priscilla's study - Psalm 27:13-14 NKJV

"I would have lost heart unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait on the Lord; be of good courage and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the Lord."

It's my prayer that this next verse will always be present in my thoughts and become the way I live my life daily...

Colossians 4:6 (NIV)

Let my coversations be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that I may know how to answer everyone.

I'm doing the same one that Joy is doing. I'm waiting and waiting so this is very relevant now :)

"For in hope we have been saved, but hope that is seen is not hope; for who hopes for what he already sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, with perseverance we wait eagerly for it."
Romans 8: 23-24 NASB

I believe that I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

(2nd memorization )- Psalm 27:14 wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage:wait for the Lord!

What the Lord is sayin' to me is "let your heart take courage". It is a choice, and He is worthy of our trust. Love Kate Bogdan

Okay, I'm a little late with my post but I have been memorizing it since Saturday.

Philippians 4:8-9

"And now, dear Daimy, lt me say one more thing as I close this letter. Fix your thoughts on what is true and honorable an right. Think about things that are pure and lovely and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all you learned from me and heard from me and saw me doing, and the God of peace will be with you."

I memorized this verse when Karen and I went to Houston, Texas for our scripture celebration. I am still needing to remind myself of the things I need to be thinking about that are true, lovely, honorable, excellent, admirable, right, pure, and worthy of praise.

I am so excited about doing this!! There really isn't a verse in the Bible that doesn't pertain to anyone of us, they all do, but at certain seasons of our lives some speak to us directly. hOw awesome it is to be able to go to that verse or reflect upon it or share it :-)

My verse for this week is Matthew 11:29-30.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

What a peaceful reminder to cast my burdens or anxieties on the Lord and he will help me through.

I LOVE you Jesus!!!

Karen,

This is Chris and Ana Gray. Ana is joining me in this endeavor.

Here we go!

Hebrews 13:8 (NIV) Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

Ana had already made a commitment to memorize this for BSF. This is a challenge because we are not good at memorizing.

Hi Everyone!

Just read through all of your verses again and I am so excited by what God is doing!

Welcome Chris and Ana Gray! Chris is the first man to join us in posting scripture on the blog. I love how he and Ana are memorizing the Word together! My husband, Phillip, is memorizing along with us....hmmm...maybe Phillip will join us and post his scripture :-)

Friends, I love memorizing God's Word with you! I don't think I can wait a year till we celebrate and share the verses we have learned. Maybe we should plan a celebration dinner in June and then another in Jan 2012. What do you think?

Love you and praying for each one of you by name. And, yes, I am praying out loud for you! It's important y'all...does anyone else talk out loud to Jesus?

Many Blessings!
Karen
